Living hip hop legends, The Roots, are coming to Prague in August

Prague, May 28 – The band that has for years set the course for hip hop innovation, The Roots, will perform in Prague on August 6 at Lucerna Music Bar!

Marketed as hip hop/neo soul formation, The Roots eagerly cross multiple genres, including those of jazz, funk and rock. The Philadelphia-born band has been around since 1987, labeled first as the “underdogs” of hip hop and rap, they gradually built up The Roots’ fame. They have released 10 studio albums and several EPs and singles, won countless awards including four Grammy Awards and are back on tour! Their current album, Undun (2011, Def Jam Records) is rocking the charts and features artists such as Big K.R.I.T., Dice Raw or P.O.R.N. The songs are usually politically aware, discussing violence, crime, poverty, guns and drug culture.

The Roots have previously worked with many distinguished artists, among others for example Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Mos Def, Saigon, John Legend, Al Green, Joshua Redman, Shakira and Jennifer Hudson.

“The band is known for performing best live shows in this genre, so Prague has definitely something to look forward to!” said one of the representatives of the promoting agency, Fource Entertainment.
